ဒေါ်မှုံစီဟာ ဝက်လက်မြို့နယ်၊ ကူကောင်းကျေးရွာမှာ နေထိုင်တဲ့ အသက် (၃၆) နှစ်အရွယ် တီဘီရောဂါဖြစ်ပွါးနေသူဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ သူ့မှာ TB ရောဂါဖြစ်နေပြီဆိုပြီး ပထမဆုံးသံသယစဖြစ်တဲ့အချိန်မှာ သူတော်တော်လေး စိုးရိမ်ကြောက်လန့်နေခဲ့ပါတယ်။ ဒါကြောင့် ဆေးကုသမှုခံယူဖို့ အချိန်ကြာခဲ့ရပါတယ်။
“တီဘီရောဂါ လက္ခဏာတွေကို ကျန်းမာရေး ပညာပေးအစီအစဉ်တွေကနေတဆင့် ကြားသိနေရလို့ ကျွန်မမှာ တီဘီရောဂါဖြစ်နေပြီလားဆိုပြီး သံသယဖြစ်ခဲ့ပါတယ်။ ကျေးရွာ စေတနာ့ဝန်ထမ်းတွေကလည်း ကျွန်မအိမ်ကိုလာပြီး ဓာတ်မှန်ရိုက်စစ်ဆေးကြည့်ဖို့ ဆွေးနွေးတိုက်တွန်းခဲ့ပါတယ်။ ဒါပေမယ့် အဲ့အချိန်ထိ ကျွန်မကြောက်နေတုန်းပဲ”
ဒေါ်မှုံစီတို့ရွာမှာ လူထုအသိပညာပေးအစီအစဉ်လုပ်ဖို့ ကျေးရွာသားဖွားဆရာမ ရွာကိုလာတဲ့အချိန်မှာတော့ သားဖွားဆရာမနဲ့ ကျေးရွာလူကြီးက တီဘီဆေးကုသမှုခံယူနေတဲ့ ရောဂါဖြစ်ပွားနေတဲ့ မည်သူ့ကိုမဆို ခွဲခြားဆက်ဆံမှု မလုပ်ဘူးဆိုတာကို အာမခံချက်ပေးခဲ့တယ်။
“အဲ့အချိန်တုန်းက ကျွန်မဘာမှ မပြောခဲ့ပေမဲ့ နောက်ပိုင်းမှာ သူတို့ကို ဆက်သွယ်ပြီး ဆေးစစ်တယ်။ ကုသမှုခံယူခဲ့တယ်။” ၂၀၁၈ ခုနှစ် မတ်လမှာ ဒေါ်မှုံစီဟာ တီဘီရောဂါကုသမှုကို စတင်ခံယူခဲ့ပါတယ်။

Daw HmonSi is a 36-year-old tuberculosis (TB) patient from Ku Kaung Village, WetletTownship. When she first suspected that she had TB, she was afraid so she delayed seeking care.
“I was frightened of discrimination by society,” she says. But when the medicine she took for her cough didn’t work, she knew she needed extra care.
“I suspected that I was a TB patient because I knew about the signs and symptoms from health education sessions. A community volunteer also came to my home to discuss TB screening, but I was still afraid.”
When a midwife visited the village to do amass awareness-raising session, the village chairperson and midwife assured everyone that there would be no discrimination for patients who underwent treatment.
“I didn't say anything right away, but afterward, I contacted them to be investigated and to start treatment.” Daw HmonSi has been undergoing TB treatment since March 2018.
